Our Christmas open match was
held on Sunday 6th December 2009, although the day
started out really wet, which meant a poor turn out of
only 21 anglers, it did brighten up towards mid morning
making it a reasonable day for the anglers who did brave
it.
The match was held over all four
bonds, although it was apparent that Pond C was fishing
best of all with immediate interest upon the starting
whistle
After the 5 hour match top
weight of the day was Steve Fegan's, fishing with single
white maggot feeding little and often producing 39lb.1
oz. from peg C7. Second was Mark Neil with 29lb.15 oz.
from peg C5 and 3rd was Mark Alison with 18lb 4 oz from
C15.
The two best carp of the day, a
10lb 6 oz common was caught by Dale Swinton from C16 and
an 8lb 6 oz. common from peg D15 by L. Barker and M.
Avery caught an excellent Perch just short of 3lb from
peg B4. The match in total produced over 200lb of
fish.
The date
is now set for our Spring open match, it will be held on
Sunday 7th March 2010. The match will be held over all
four ponds with a total of 44 tickets to be sold on a
first come first served basis. Tickets are £12.50
per person. There will be a small cash prize for first,
second and third place but as in previous years a draw
will be held in the cafe after the match and everyone
will get a prize, from a weekend in a three bedroom
caravan, a night in a bed and breakfast chalet, bottles
of spirits, wine, chocolates, pots of bait, Blyton Ponds
T-shirt, Blyton Ponds baseball cap etc.etc. The draw will
take place in the cafe at 8.30 to start fishing at 9.30
until 2.30. The prize draw will be held in the cafe
afterwards. The cafe will be open from 7.00 for breakfast
and sandwiches. As tickets are limited it is advisable to
book a place in advance either email or phone Angela on
01427 628240. Why
not make a weekend of it and book overnight accommodation
if you are travelling any distance.
